How do I Register?

Download the free apparent app and register. You will then receive a unique code for your class which you in turn can send to the parents of your class. Parents can then download the app and register on apparent using that unique code.

How many classes can be opened in any one school?

There is no limit, but for now, all the classes will be registered to the email of the registering teacher. For multiple teachers, it would be better for each teacher to register her class as a separate school. Future versions of apparent will simplify this for larger schools.

I forgot my password, what should I do?

Press the Login button and then press on “Forgot Password”

Is apparent really free for both me and the parents?

Yes, it really is!

How do I invite parents to register the application

You have two choices. After registering, you would have received an email explaining how to send the unique code for your class to the parents, as well as an actual email that you should forward to the parents as well. Make sure to send this to the entire distribution list for your class. Alternatively, simply press on “Invite parents” in the main menu of apparent

Why do I need to do to confirm Parents who have registered for my class?

This is just an extra level of security to ensure only parents approved by you will join the closed group of your class.

What do I need to do to confirm Parents who have registered for my class?

Go to the contact page of the relevant class, and you will see the child’s name with a note that it is waiting for approval. Press confirm and the parent will be able to access and be a part of that class on apparent.

How do I take pictures and put them into an album?

The easiest was to do this is to first create an album in apparent by going to the album tab at the bottom of the screen. (If you have more than one class, remember to first select the relevant class from the main menu!). Then press on the large “+” in the top right hand corner and enter an album name and create the album. Next, press on that album in the album screen and then press on the camera icon at the bottom of

Is it possible to import images from a gallery or Camera roll?

Very easily. Once you have selected or created an album, press on the camera logo, and choose “Existing Library”. Select the picture or pictures you want to upload to your album and press “Done”. You will then have to confirm the upload of the picture by pressing on “Upload” in the top right hand corner. (If you have selected multiple pictures, you can review them by swiping across each one). The image or images will then be uploaded to your new album, and become visible to all registered parents.

Why can I not upload videos to apparent from my iPhone?

Video shooting and uploading is currently only available in our Android version, but we’re working hard to bring it to our iPhone version very soon.

Do parents access photos and videos from my phone?

No. Once the images are uploaded to an album, they are uploaded from your phone to the apparent cloud server, and parents view the images directly from there.

I have two classes in my school. Do all parents see the images I share and messages I send?

Definitely not! Images and messages are only visible to the class that hey are sent to or shared with.

I took some photos using my phone and then uploaded them to apparent to share with the parents. Can I now delete these photos from my phone’s gallery or camera roll?

For sure. In fact it’s a really good habit to get into to ssve storage space on your phone! Once you have uploaded the photos from you phone into an album on apparent the photos will be stored onto the apparent cloud server, and parents view the images directly from there.

How do I to send a message to the class parents?

This differs for iPhone and Android. For iPhone, enter the Class you want to send the message to and select the “Messages” tab and start typing. For Android select “Messages” and then choose which the Class you wish to send a message to.

Is there a limit to the number of albums that can be created?

Not at all! Create to your heart’s desire.

Is there a limit to the number of images in allowed for each album?

Yes there is. Each album is limited to 50 images. If you have more than this for a particular album, simply create a new album and name it accordingly (e.g. Zoo visit part 2)

A parent accidentally subscribed to the wrong class, what should I do?

Please send us an email from your registered email with the parent’s email address and details of which class they should join – we will correct your entry and complete the application process for you. (In coming versions, you will be able to correct this yourself!)

There is an error in one of the registration details of my school. How do I correct this?

Press on “settings” in the main menu, and then “Edit Teacher details”. Don’t forget to save your changes.

How do I add an additional class to my school?

Press the menu button and then press “Add New Class”

I am a teacher at one school and have children at a different school. Can I use apparent both as a teacher and as a parent?

Unfortunately not. You will have to register with one email address for you, the teacher, and a different email for you the parent. Feel free to use the same password for both registrations. Depending on which persona you want to use at the time, you may have to logout and sign in with the relevant profile. We are working on making this easier for you, bear with us please.

Parents are telling me I have not approved them. What do I need to do?

Go to the contact page for the relevant class, and once there, press “OK” for each child where it indicates “Waiting approval”.

How do I delete an image from an album?

Select the relevant album, and then press “Select” in the top right hand corner. Select the image or images you want to delete (they will be marked with a tick) and press the Trash icon at the bottom of the screen.

How do I delete an entire album of images?

Select the albums tab and simply swipe left from the right hand side of the album you wish to delete.

Can parents delete images or albums that I post

No. Only the teacher has the ability to delete images or albums

Is it better to take photos from apparent or should I rather use my phone’s camera app and then upload them from my gallery?

Both methods work just fine, but there are benefits to each method. If you take the photos using apparent they are not stored on your phone at all, so no memory space is used. The downside is that the photos cannot be edited with your photo editing apps.

Why do some children’s names appear twice in the contacts list?

Each listing would be for a different parent using the app (e.g. two listings for Mum and Dad). In future versions we hope to indicate which listing is which.

How do I Register?

Initially, your class teacher will download apparent and register. She will then receive a unique code for her class which she in turn will send to the parents of her class. Parents can then download the app and register on apparent using that unique code.

Where do I get a registration code?

From your class teacher. When she enrolled the class on apparent she would have received an email with a unique code and instructions for parents.

Is registration is free?

Yes, apparent is a free app, and there are no charges to use the app.

After I register, can I start using apparent immediately?

No. You’re almost there, but you need to wait until the class teacher approves your registration. She will get a notification on her apparent that you have registered and are waiting for approval. A single click from her, and you’re ready to go. We use this system to doubly ensure the integrity of the class group on apparent.

How will I know if the class teacher has approved my registration?

You will get an in-app notification from the teacher confirming your successful approval. You can then press Login and enter your email and password and you’re good to go

The teacher approved me but I can not login into apparent.

Please double check that you have entered your correct login email and password. If you are sure these have been entered correctly, and you still do not login successfully, please send us an email from your registered email address and we will sort out the issue for you.

I forgot my password, what should I do?

Press the Login button and then press on “Forgot Password”

Can I add additional children to my apparent?

Absolutely. There is no limit to the number of children you can register on apparent. Just press on the Add Child tab in the menu. Remember though, each child will need the be approved by his / her class teacher

How do I update my personal information?

Press on “Settings” in the menu then press “Edit parent details”

Send us an email from your registered email with the details of which school and class you want to join – we will correct your entry and complete the application process for you.

Can I update the default picture of my child?

Yes – that is very easy to do. Press “Settings” and “edit parent details”

Can I send a message to the class teacher?

No, apparent was created to let the teacher send you the parent messages and pictures

Our school does not use apparent but we want to let our teacher know about it. What should we do?

Tell your teacher to download the free apparent app and to register. She will then receive a unique code that she will share with you, the parents and you can then join the class.

Who can see the picture of my children?

In apparent, the pictures for each class are only visible to the registered parents of that class, and of the course the class teacher.

How do I view a picture that the teacher has posted to an album

Go to the album tab and choose the album you want to view. That will bring up a thumbnails of all the pictures in that album. Press on the picture you wish to view.

Can I delete images or albums I don’t want to see?

No. Only the teacher has the ability to delete images or albums

How do I save an image of my child from apparent to my photo galleries?

Enter the album containing the image you want to save. Press on the image and then press on the action icon on the lower left corner and select “Save image”

Can I use apparent for two (or more) children in different schools?

Absolutely! You will receive an unique code from the teacher of each child. Register each child using the relevant code and apparent will sort out the rest. Your children will be listed on the home screen.
